I am looking to buy the Abu Garcia Orra Winch to use as a crank bait reel. For the rod, do I want something with a "fast tip"? Also, what is your opinion of the All Star Rods? I am a casual fisherman who doesn't get to fish often. I appreciate your help.

Academy sells a lot of rods at low $. For crankbaits, I assume you're speaking about diving baits, a longer rod at least 7 foot in a Medium (light baits 1/4 ounce or less) to Medium heavy works pretty well. AllStar makes some good moderately priced rods. Hope this helps.

You want a Moderate tip or mod/fast. Allstar makes a decent rod but they are not that strong. I have broken a few but Academy was always great to replace them. I don't use them anymore. You can probably find a better crankIng rod for a similar price.
