but the bass were biting. Hit an old favorite pond for a study break for a couple hours. Caught about 8 bass on a drop shotted Eagle Claw trout crawler but just could not find any bluegills. This on again off again cold/hot weather must have them lockjawed. Thought maybe since it's warm and there's a front coming they'd be biting pretty good. I'm also hoping that the coot that has taken up residence in the pond hasn't wiped them out. Still a nice way to kill some time. Despite the dog's objections all fish were thrown back. Pics are kinda blurry due to the crappy iPhone 4 camera...

Bass are a super substitute for Bluegill during the cold spells. Love catching those pond bass! Nice fish. Side Note: Once cold weather sets in the Sunfish head for the deeper parts of the lakes and ponds. They also become very inactive.

Nothing wrong with a few green trash fish to make the day brighter. Way to go!

Thanks guys!
Yeah Chuck although the cold front hasn't hit us yet the bluegills must already be deep, probably due to the inconsistency in the weather lately. It was 75 and sunny for the most part when I was out there.

Nice Bass! There have been several days this winter when only the bass wanted to play. I had a day today when no one wanted to play. Got the big SKUNK on the board.

Thanks Laker! You're more hardcore than I am, no way I'd be standing out there in this cold.

My buddy talked me into hitting the dock. Yes it was super "COLD"! Two hours without one bite.

My buddy talked me into hitting the dock. Yes it was super "COLD"! Two hours without one bite. Almost joined the "Skunk" board also today. I also fished some docks and only caught two bass in four hours. Used worms, jigs, and minnows. Did not get one Bluegill bite. I did have a nice "Drag Puller" but after a short run it decided to spit the hook. Gills have moved to deeper water.

Nothing better than fishing with your dog!
Nice going on the green pickles
Looking forward to sight casting Suns in creeks when the water warms.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

'ppreciate it y'all!
Yes fishing with the dog can be nice, as long as there's something nearby to hook his leash too so he's not running around going crazy. He also sometimes wants to fetch my bait when he sees me cast it lol
