I am thinking about getting a 2WD single cab pickup. What year did Dodge put coil springs on the rear suspension of the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup? For those that have the coil spring set up, do you like it for street use?

Think they started using them in 2009.
They have a reputation for a smooth ride, but sag quite a bit if you ever plan to load it heavy or tow a trailer with considerable tongue weight.

I have had a 2009 since it was new, 140K miles now. I tow my boat and or car trailer most every weekend. Love the ride and handling of the truck. Never had any issues towing but just as with any truck, need to keep the tongue weight in the proper range.

Coil > leaf.
Got them on the new 2500, much better ride in the HD at least.

The payload difference in the coils on a 14 2500 and leafs on a 14 2500 is about 1000 pounds... 2500's outsell 3500 10-1. Dodge really did their homework on the new ones. Not as much squat as you would think. All 2500's come with coils (gen 4), improved ride and comparable payload, it was a no brainier.
