Have thrown a similar nail rig on a different style finesse worm and have had good success.

This is the same as the Neko rig. I've used it, and it works best in shallow rock/gravel and low wind conditions. It's basically an ultra finesse shaky head. Works particularly well with baits that float.

I've used it a lot with lizard type baits on beds. It drives the bass crazy. been using it for 10 years at least,

I will rig a trick worm wacky weedless style with a 2/0 EWG hook for fishing in thick timber. It takes some practice getting the hook positioned correctly.. It works great under the right conditions.....

Jimmy Johnson taught that one to me at Amistad and in clear water it works well on lite line.

Charles Whited showed me that trick years ago on Choke Canyon to get the bait up under the grass matte. Very effective! Great for getting it under docks too.

A guy in our club, who's passed, used to fish that exact rig (with a trick worm) in the early 90s. "Back Up Worm" is what I remember it by. Pull it and give it slack and it will glide backwards a bit if worked right. Great bait for working sparse hydrilla.
