I'm going to dedicate more time to balder jigs this year, I have been messing around with them more and more. I'm wondering if you guys had rod recommendations or how many of you have a dedicated bladed jig set up.
Some brands Heavy action would work better, other brands MH. I fish areas like Fork a lot around timber and weeds. Mostly use #17-20 Floro, but sometimes braid if thicker vegetation.
I've been using a duckett Hvy action. Like it but I'm thinking of getting a set up for chatterbaits/ blades jigs and thinking of all options.

You can get away with the same rod you use for swim jigs or spinnerbaits. I like a MH with a fast tip. 15 ibs. fluro.
The kicker to this system IMO is to SLOW DOWN, and if you cant slow down, go down a ratio with your reel. I use a 6.3:1, but I've been with guys that use a 5.1:1 because they could slow down.
If you reel those baits in fast they ride up and are far less effective, for what I use them for at least.

I use two rods. I'm just speaking from my experience which is a little different from what I've heard from others. I really don't know if there is a one size fits all, but I do make bladed jigs and I fish with them a heck of a lot.
1) A 7' or longer rod in an XH power with braid and a 6.2:1 reel. I'm currently using a 7'3 XH Shimano Expride with 50 lb Power Pro on a Shimano Chronarch Ci4. This setup sends the hook to the bone and is my preferred setup. I lose very few fish on this setup, but there's times when I don't get bit until I switch it up. This is a dedicated setup; all I use it for is bladed swim jigs.
2) A 7' or longer glass rod in a MH power with 17-20 pound fluoro and a 6.2:1 reel. I'm currently using a 7'3 MH glass Shimano Expride with Seaguar Invizx on a Shimano Chronarch Ci4. I think I get more bites on this setup.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

I love shallow cranking with that stick and I spoke with Brett Hite, who might be the best chatterbait fisherman in the world right now, and he uses a glass Evergreen rod with action almost identical to that of the Expride.

Bring you a 7' mh fast tip with a 6.3 or lower ratio reel and 15lb or larger line of your choice a few snacks and drinks. I will take you out for the day and will guarantee you will have confidence with a bladed jig after a hour or so.

I throw it on a 7' med/hvy with 17# flouro. I've caught a bunch of BIG fish on that set up at Fork. If I'm fishing Grass I throw it on 50lb Power Pro

I'll throw this out there. I try to stay away from throwing them on braided line because I seem to miss a heck of a lot of fish with the braid due to the lack of stretch

IMO, it buries the hook and I can't recall losing any fish and maybe missing 1 or 2 over the past few years.

I've been fortunate enough to have caught them on braided line and floro, I feel confident in these baits.
I'm just mulling over options of trying to get the best all around set up, but like so many other applications there are so many variables there may not be one set up for every scenario

This is my opinion. You need some stretch in the setup. You can get that one of 2 ways. Through the rod or through the line.

15-20lb floro or 50lb braid with a MH/H rod I like mod fast tip. Won't use mono on them used to then I switched to line that has little or no stretch and hook up ratio increased

I use my spinner bait rod. It has more flex when the fish hits it and I can feel more.
