Like I've heard someone else here state, there's going to be a lot of broken lower units and busted fiberglass on these area lakes with lower than normal water levels. Some guys will slow down and act accordingly and others will speed around like a bat out of hell with no regard for others or current lake levels. Proper boating etiquette suggest that we help these idiots when they F up. Now don't get me wrong I will help anybody in a bad spot as I expect them to do the same with me when I'm on the water, but I have very little tolerance for BS and stupidity. You guys know exactly what I mean. We've all been cut off, almost run over or into by people on the water with no boating etiquette.Schooling fish or not, roadbed or whatever,we should never be so close to one another that we can cast a lure on to another's boat. What are some of your pet peeves or suggestions as far as boating etiquette?

helping a stranded boater is one of those things you just have to do blindly without much thought on the root causes. a little more discretion can be made after contact if you can call someone, if they can troll back, or if they can wait an hour or two for you to fish some more.

one of my pet peeves is boats getting out on the lake in such poor mechanical condition they are running on a prayer. many times they don't pray hard enough or God doesn't give a flip about when a boat breaks down. a responsible boater should make reasonable effort not to go out on lake if known problems might keep them from getting back own power. boats break enough even when you think everything is perfect.

Amen!!

I towed a guy in a couple years ago that told me that people are so nice because he breaks down a lot and someone always tows him in to the ramp.

He had " tow entitlement " lol

To be 100% honest, if you could look into the lives of those who habitually have break downs on the water, I would guess everything they do resembles a train wreck and they seek outside help in every facet of their day to day lives.

It is what it is, it's your choice to help them if they are just broke down and there isn't any type of accident or injury involved.

My biggest pet peeve is people who troll behind a key board. Comments like this make me rarely want to post anything on here because people like yourself will have some douche remark.

Doug R., you have a nice day...

Seriously though, what was the point in being so hateful. Guy was trying to start a conversation. I don't care either way, but seems to me we're all here for the same reason, so why be hateful to one another.

Now to chime in on my part of the conversation. I wish I knew who these people were who will just tow you in no matter what. I have broke down twice in the past month cowling off and clearly in trouble and I can't count how many people passed me and didn't give a lick. And no my boat isn't in poor shape, in fact, it's brand new, but that's a whole different issue.
