New boat and I have new questions...

I have a 24V trolling motor. I have 3 total batteries with the option to add 1 more if I need it.

How does everyone have their trolling motor, graphs/misc electronics, bilge/livewells hooked up?

I’m thinking about adding a third battery for all electronics including 2 humminbird graphs, live wells and bilge.

The TM would be on its own 2 batteries and the cranking battery would be on its own battery.

Thoughts on that option?

AND

What if I just wanted to keep my 3 batteries and run everything. How would you hook everything up?

Seems like you have everything going in the right direction. I run a 24v tm and only use 3 batteries. I would recommend you use the tm batteries for tm only. Run all of your other accessories off of your cranking battery. You can usually monitor your cranking battery voltage through your graphs, as running from spot to spot will charge your battery. I would recommend to try and budget a good onboard charger. I have run the 3 battery setup for several years without any issues.

I just purchased a 3 bank Minn Kota charger. Do you hook up your crankin battery to the battery charger or just let it charge when the big motor is running?

I have the Minn kota charger as well. I hook it up to all 3 batteries and leave it plugged in at all times when not on the water. I have had mine for almost 3years and have not had any issues with batteries failing on me as of yet

my last boat was setup that way. 24v tm running 4 batteries. 1 for big motor and the other for assesories. for the most part the big motor should keep the cranking battedy charged especially if you make any med to long runs while on the water.or if you graph a lot of structure. mine did. i got a cheap $30 charger from walmart and put it on the cranking battery about once a month or so just to be on the safe side.

My Triton run's 3 batteries 2 for the 24V trolling motor, and 1 for the outboard, both my Graphs are on the outboard Batt, and I don't ever use the AM/FM radio, my bilge pump and live well also run off of the outboard motor batt also, I have the big 3 bank 10amp per Batt charger that is hooked to all three batteries and stays plugged in all the time, never had any Batt problems so for

If I were going to use 4 batteries, I'd put 2 in parallel on the big motor and hook all of the electronics up to them. That way, you'd have double the reserve to run your electronics, but both batteries would still charge off of the alternator when the big motor was running and both batteries would charge off of the single bank on your charger when it was plugged in. Super simple install, all you need are two heavy duty jumpers to run from the positive on the 2nd battery to the positive on the first, and the negative on the second battery to the negative on the first.

3 batteries - 36V trolling motor. 2 HDS units. Been running this way for years with no problems.
