Just heard a potential world record spot was caught in California during a tournament on Bullards Bar, weighing 10.98.

Never caught one over about a pound and a half, but if the giants like this are anything like the small ones, I can only imagine what the fight would be like.

Gary Dobyns and his son Rich regularly weigh tournament limits from 20-30+ out there. Gary said he came in one day with 5 for 32 or so, and Rich beat him with 35+.

I had one pushing 6lbs on Lewis Smith AL a few years ago. That was huge to me. Nothing like the ones in Cali. The Cali spot were transplanted from Lewis smith.

There are a few lakes in Northern Cali we used to fish that had good numbers of big spots. We caught a few 6-7 pounders and numerous 3-5's, those are the hardest fighting fish pound for pound that I've caught. Bad thing is, one of the lakes was at like 20% pool last summer.

Never got one anywhere near that back in Georgia, but caught a few in the 3-5lb class and they are mean fish! Hard to imagine a 10lb Spot!
