It has been 6 days since the last report. I have friends who go a lot and have not heard anything encouraging. Is it still going strong? Great weather all week and no reports. Hmmm im worried. Let you know tomorrow. Going to find out for myself.

Well just got back. Put in at airport at 8 am. Went upstream to usual spots. Not very productive. Pulled 10 keepers in current lots of small fish. Keepers were barely 11 inches. Gave up at 1130 and went the other way downstream past the ramp about 1 mile maybe less. Found lots of holes in between fast shallow water. None were all that good. 1 here and there. But they were all big fish. I have never fished this side of airport before so it was tough fishing. We had to work the banks all they way and try to find the fish. One deep spot was ok. Seems like the fish would move through and we would catch three. Then slow. Then move through catch 2 or 3. Then slow. So we worked hard all day for 51 keepers maybe 25 smal ones. Two keeper crappie and 4 blue cats. Cleaned the fish 20 females ready to pop mushy blood veined eggs 30 males. Lots of nice fish. Better than i have been doing going upstream. Might be last trip. Guess i am getting lazier in my old age. Dont really want to make that hour long trip upstream pulling boat through shallows replacing sheered pins on motor etc. So i am not at all upset with the fishing. Close to ramp is easier and more relaxing. There are fish there but not as many because most people stop at those spots and clean those holes out weekly. Still good action if you dont give up.

Weirdofish, well, you answered my question. I was going to submit a question on the forum to see if the members thought the white bass run was slowing down or if they had just moved further upriver. My son, two granddaughters, and I put in at 59 and went downriver toward the lake on Saturday. We ended up keeping 31, but they were all huge. It was pretty much hit and miss. A few here and a few there, no big concentrations. Two game wardens came by and checked us for licenses and fish. At the time that they checked us, we had 22 fish in the boat. When they saw that we had 22 fish, they said that we had the most of any boat that they had checked so far. I will say this. While the quantity of fish being caught has slowed, the quality sure hasn't. Our fish were really big. At least in the area downriver from the 59 launch.

At airport you can fish up river or down river about a mile each way. You will drag canoe a bit. Work the shallow shoals and holes before the shoals. At 59 you can go up river and fish deep holes. Downriver not sure. There is another thread on this conversation on second page called"nueces whites 2015". Has good info.
To bernard....how far down river did you fish?

tbud, we didn't go more than about 2 miles downriver, that's an estimate. We went as far as that house on the right where their concrete boat ramp is high and dry. Then we worked our way back just as we had done coming down. Probably caught almost as many coming back as we had going down.
