So I get my power pole next week... If you only got one what side would you mount it on?

And what's your reasoning for mounting it on that side?

I would mount it on the right side then go buy one for the left.....or mount it on the left side and go buy one for the right.

Good advice. One is ok. I have one Talon and man, have to tell you, honestly wish I could mount a 2nd one. You will spin with the wind with one.
Because of my boarding ladder, I have no room to mount one. But, if you do and can afford to, get a second one. You will be MUCH MORE PLEASED. Anchor and hold you on to the target fishing spot your wanting to work.

Right side for me. I had my Talon on the left. When the bracket broke I mounted it on the right. I like it on the right better. Primarily because I can see the lights that shows how far its down better. Might not be much different with a Power Pole.

I'd put it on the port side of it were mine. The TM is on the right side. But, and I'm just speaking my mind here, one is kinda a waste. It really takes two to keep the boat anchored and facing the right direction. Other wise you have to use the TM to pull against the SWA to keep the boat in the best position for casting. Sometimes, this isn't possible. When pitching and flipping nasty grass, the TM is usually in a spot where it would get caught up in the grass. Witth two, you can stick the boat in any direction and hold it how you want it. Even in wind and waves.

I have mine on the starboard side, drivers side. I bought mine used and that was the side the bracket fit. One is a thousand times better than none.

try to balance your weight, especially if you are running three trolling batteries...

If manly fish by yourself it doesn't really matter which side you put it on. If you fish with a partner that fishes primarily in the back of the boat I would see which side of the boat you fish from most and put it on the opposite side. Yes one is way better then none you will learn when to deploy it to have your boat swing to the location you want it without having to hit the trolling motor to much.

Wanted to 'expand' on my post to you about using just one shallow water anchor.
You can do it, I have one as well, but it does take some getting used to.
Here in Texas, you can almost always count on winds. When you mount it, take it to the lake and just practice.
As I said, it takes practice. If your in say, 8' of water, you have to be careful about having enough water for the bow of the boat to swing around and not damage your TM if you have one.
Good luck. These new anchors are great but, really best used in pairs.
LOL, if I had the dang room, believe me, I would have TWO 12' Talons instead of one.
God Bless

I mounted mine on the drivers side because that's the same side the running light is on.

I'm sure two are better than one, but I wouldn't say one is a waste. Mine is on the driver side, and yes you will spin in the wind, but I can compensate for the wind with my trolling motor on a very low speed with one. and when you get out of the wind, one works pretty good.

If I had the money, I would have 2, 12' talons -but as it is I have 1, 8' power pole - and it is much better than not having one

I have one Talon mounted on the starboard side. Not sure it really matters which side you mount one. And I agree, one is better than none.
