What time of year and water temp is required for catfish to start spawning? May is usually when I try to fish for them but thought someone here could give great advice. Also how do you locate spawning catfish in the lake?

Back when I used to noodle catfish we started the first weekend in June. Flatheads were usually cleaning out their holes by then. Noodling was good all month long for Flatheads, blues and an occasional big channel. I think early May is generally when they start gorging for the spawn at least up in Texoma.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

It's usually June up this way, probably May in Texas. When the water temps hit 70 is usually the trigger point for blues.
