The Ray Hubbard Bass Club had our first tournament of the year last Saturday February 14th at Lake Palestine. Despite being Valentines Day, we had a Club record 38 boats come out to a members only tournament! We had incredible weather to fish. Warm temperatures and fairly light winds greeted us. For most of us however, the lake reminded us it was still February and fished fairly tough. As always though, some people caught em. The Father and Son team of Dennis and Damon Machost won going away with a hefty 5 fish limit of 21.86 pounds. Here are full results and pictures.

Dan Margules and Doug Haussler also had one fish but she weighed 3.89. Doug is a little camera shy so Dan went to him.



Eric and Bart Vidal also weighed one fish but it was a stout 4.03



You know fishing is pretty tough when the Climer brothers weigh in just 3 for 7 pounds. Here's Tony releasing one of their fish using Lake Palestine Resorts unique fish release system.



New member Brian Brooks and his son Brian Jr had 3 for 5.39

Steve Taggert and Derek Sullivan had 3 for 7.07



Vince Burt and Jim Phillips had 4 for 8 pounds even.

Another Father/Son team of Kenny and Howard Bunch had 2 for 7.81 but one of them was a 6.25 beast. The RHBC had 10 Father and Son teams fish together in this tournament, a fact we are very proud of!



We also had three couples teams fish with us on Saturday. Here's Dale Rettman and Kelly Graham who had 3 for 9.06 that included one that weighed 5.10.



Paul Erickson fished solo and had 4 for 9.45



Chris Atkinson also fishing solo had 5 for 9.95



Last of our solo anglers is Preston Smith who finished 6th with 2 fish for 11.14!



Preston's bag included big bass of the tournament, a 9.21 monster! There were stories being told of another fish coming off at the boat bigger than this one. Can't wait to hear the story at our next meeting Preston!

5th place went to Doug Rener and Andy Medina with 5 for 11.32. Here's Doug releasing one down the chute.



4th place went to David Simmons and Ronnie Manning with 5 for 11.77.

3rd place went to newcomers Joe Ruiz and Paul Villareal. They weighed 5 that went 13.29.



2nd place went to another Father/Son team, Justin and Jeff Garrett. They had a great bag of 5 fish for 18.30!



That included the second place big bass of the day at 8.59!
