Just bought a Garmin echomap 70s online last night, I'm excited to get it in and installed on the boat. Does anyone have any first hand experience with the 70s or 70dv?

Thanks

I have 2 EchoMap 70s. Great units. I switched out the Garmin transducer for an Airmar P66 and it really made the already 2D images great. Had botton readings at over 55mph. Get the GCV-10 and really have a good system. The SideVu / DownVu are great using the GCV-10.

I also just recently had the echomap 70s and GCV 10 installed. I am really happy with how user friendly it is and how clear the images are. I am also getting good sonar readings up to about 50 mph.

I'm hoping to have enough money by march 1st to buy another 70s and the GCV 10. What are the upsides to the Airmar P66? Did you buy any extra mapping chips to put in them? Thanks for the help

The P66 is a much better quality transducer. The images are much better than the
images with the Garmin transducer. I added the LakeVu HD Ultra map chip to get all of the
additional operations that it provides. Like lake level offset.

Do you run one of your 70s at the bow? If so, do you use the side imaging up there, or what screen do you usually run the bow unit on?

And is your P66 mounted in the hull (shoot-thru) or off the back of the transom?
