I have been on Aransas pass one time with a guide for red's and had blast! So much fun I traded my boat for a center console Epic. Remembering where the guide took us, there where a few white PVC poles sticking up out of the water. Does anyone know what these are for and which side of them to stay on? And basically how you read them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

They usually mark structure ( oyster reef) or a hazard

Uhh, be careful there. PVC pipe is used for channels, to mark secret spots, obstructions, sometimes I think someone just goes around and sticks random poles in the bays to mess with us.
Go slow until you know an area. It's a pain in the butt to putt putt along but it's a whole lot cheaper than a new lower unit.

Fritz, that's what I did, moved very slow until I reached a fishing spot with other boats. Although Epic states that I can run in 14" of water it is still somewhat scary to rum in 2' of water so I did what you said, putt-putt to all of the areas. The second day I was much more comfortable.
Thanks for the advice.

That 2ft of water can change to 2 inches real quick. Be careful and spend time just learning the bay. Pick just a few fishing spots and learn them well before moving to the next. Always be aware the tide movement. A grounding or two will accelerate the learning curve.LOL Dont ask me how I know.

RailBob, Great to here there's another Epic owner out there! Port A is a big area, where do you fish in the area? Which dealer did you buy your boat at. How far out are the rigs? No problem with going out there? Thanks for the reply

Po Boy, I know exactly what you are talking about. Once I moved out of the channel it got real shallow quick. I was a bit leery to move through the bay but I soon realized if you move slow you can mange your way out of the real shallow water. As soon as I saw mud I knew it was time to back out. I will pay more attention to the tide both for the depth as well as the fishing. I didn't fish as much as I wanted to but did motor around the bay and paid close attention to the signs of shallow water. It was a new experience but one I will continue to go back to, to learn more about the bay and of course the great fishing.
Thanks for the reply

I fish all the inshore Lydia Anna channel around the Estes flats and have great results. I go out to the rigs about 5 to 10 miles offshore and been doing great with ribbon fish for bait . I am still learning bout salt water fishing. Always bass fished. I got my boat in Dallas but now the cleburn fun an sun dealer took the dealer ship over.they are a great place to do business with and they take care off any warranty work. This epic handles the water great smooth or rough

Great to know, I too bought my boat in Dallas and drive buy the dealership everyday on my way to work. The only thing that they are selling is used trucks and motorcycles. I live not far from the Hurst sun-n-fun I am going to give them a call to see if the will do warranty work for me. I am going to try Lydia Ann channel and around Estes flats as you suggested. After I get used to my boat I will head to the rigs. Thanks for all of the great tips, I hope I can return the favor some day.

Good to know about Ken and sun-n-fun. Without your reply I would have never known this. What color is your boat, if I see you i'll say hello. Do you go anywhere else beside port A?
