I remember back in the 1950s and '60s, fishing for sand bass at Lake Texoma. My Dad used metal spoons. As I recall, I was in grade school at the time, we would cast out and let the metal spoon hit the bottom… reel in a bit and jig it up and down. The sand bass would hit the spoon as it lifted off the bottom. I was wondering if people still fish like that. If so, has anyone used the Shimano Butterfly Jigs? They work great here in Hawaii on all kinds of fish and I was just wondering if you guys had tried them.

Yes, still jig off the bottom and I've never seen that spoon before but looks like it would do well

You have to remember, I grew up in East Texas and know what the weather is like there. As my wife says: "it's too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer" LOL. as we say: Lucky You Live Hawaii.
The freshwater fishing is slow right now… peacock bass like warm water. The saltwater is productive, especially with those butterfly jigs. We have pictures on the Facebook page "Hawaii Bass Fishing".
When you make it to Oahu, I'll take you fishing, but I think I'll only visit you guys
in the fall. LOL

They are great! Be careful with the two hooks!

Those butterfly jig with 2 assist hooks is for saltwater fishing. When we use it in saltwater fishing, we take 1 assist hook off, for the safety of the fishman or deckhand.
