if I was wanting to switch chips do your wave points stay on your unit or are they erased?

They stay keep your Navionics card though they are more accurate on contour lines than Lakemaster is.

Waypoints are GPS data, Lakemaster and Navionics is map data.
To different things, not related, but they work together.
Maps are just a background on the Chart Plotter.

Your unit creates the waypoints and they are stored in the unit's memory. You have them whether you have mapping or not.

thanks guys. is there one that is better than the other? Reason I ask is I saw honey hole when he was on palestine and his showed the creek channel. I believe he had the lake master chip. Also can the navionics chip be updated after a few years? My dad has one he bought about 4 years ago that he has not updated.

I switched from Navionics to Lake Master because the Lake Master allowed me to set the correct water depth. Most of the North Texas lakes I fish are down and this has helped me quite a bit. The thing I miss most about the Navionics is it showed the timber and lake houses/docks clearly where the Lake Master does not.

It depends on the lake. If LM has a hi def map of your lake you can hardly beat it especially with the water level feature. The Guadalupe River chain lakes are not on LM and since they are constant level the Navionics works well.

Saw the lake master guys scanning shoreline on Toledo recently. I've never seen a boat abused by stumps that bad haha. It was definitely entertaining watching a deepv 20ft boat try and navigate shallow stump fields at a fast idle. He never slowed down

I have both and just recently bought LM because creek channels so clear on Lakes they offer. There is a small city lake in OK that it is balls-on-accurate

Have the newer units improved the refresh rate for the Lake Master Maps? I like the detail but it is very slow to refresh but I do have an older model 'Bird.
