Hi all- I'm mainly a largemouth fisherman but want to try my hand at catching some whites and hybrids this year. Only place I know of that produces well is a creek coming off Granbury which is all dried up now. Grandpa used to take me there. If anyone knows a place I may be successful near Fort Worth, please fill me in. Not asking for GPS coordinates, just a body of water. Preferably safe to eat the fish out of. I have a 14 foot flat bottom Jon that can get me threw some pretty shallow water. Thanks in advance.

If you will wait until the end of march and early April you can pretty much catch them anywhere. Why don't you give Possum Kingdom lake a try? It's a nice little drive from Fort Worth and it's never crowded. In the spring, the sandbass will be pathetically easy to catch in the creeks and up lake. Any white or Chartreuse jig or lure will do. PK also has some big striped bass and some surprisingly large LM Bass as well.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. Isn't PK really low right now? Open ramps? If so I'll give it a try.

In the spring use the North D & D ramp on the Peninsula.

Last spring I went through Costello Pass and trolled some road runners up the lake in march and could not keep two poles in the water. Before I knew it I had way more sand bass than I wanted to clean and I quit fishing. Purpose of the trip was just to go see what the top of the lake looked like. There is more water in there now than back then and you could go all the way past where the Brazos comes in.

The earth/satellite view on google maps shows what we had last year and we have more water now.
