I'm looking to purchase my first Dobyns rod. I want the DX745C but never had a split handle always full. What do you guys recommend?

You'll like both. I have mostly split grips, but like my two full grips just as well. I don't know what the weight difference is... See if you can find someone close to you that has both, so you can put them in your hands.

I like the split but can't really say why. If I close my eyes I don't think I could tell the difference between my fulls and splits except on my 8' deep cranking rod. It has a full lenth grip and I think thats more comfortable on the rods I actually often use two hands to "launch" heavier baits(Deep cranks, A-rig...).

I like mostly split, but on crank bait rods I like full.

Get what ever you are most comfortable with! I use both and like either style just as well as the other.

I had both in the 745 Extreme. Sold the full grip one and got another split grip model.

For cranking, swim bait and carolina rigging I like the full grip.

Spilt grips make sense to me. Since you usually only hold the rod with one hand by the reel and only touch the cork when casting. Also I don't like a fore grip. Wasted cork and added weight. The little piece of cork on the butt end of the rod is for looks, a little balance, and to protect the end of the rod. IMO.

I prefer the split grips. I can't say specifically for Dobyns but I'm sure they're all about the same as far as that goes

I like Split grip for rods that I am wanting to fish slow like Tx,jig,or any thing I am fishing slow. I like full handles on any rod I am fishing moving baits for the ability to throw the lure with more power. I would say just like above C_rig, cranks, A-rigs and anything you would want to throw with more power. just my .02

Depends on what the rod is for. Full grip for cranking, swim baits and jigs so you can bury the rod in your rib cag for leverage and they genrally have a longer butt. I like to use split grip for Texas Rig, I fish Texas rig a lot so the lighter weight and feel is more important to me.
