I've lost count how many fish I've caught on a storm arashi 3 doing this exact thing. Anything with chartreuse in it for dirty water

Chartreuse is your friend in dirty water.

Since shad don't change color in muddy water I stick with a shad pattern of some type. In my mind most fish and bait fish lighten up in color in dirty water. They don't get brighter.

Chartruse/black is a good choice. So is Tennesee Shad colored. I like a SK 1.5 sized for this. And I change out the rear hook to a size smaller. It helps the bait "nose down/tail up"'and pop the bill across rocks better. Less hang ups. And when you feel a hang up. The rear floats up quicker and frees the lure easier.

I try to throw shad colored squarebills as much as possible. Never really been a fan of straight black and chartreuse. I like the Rick Clunn's and now they make some with rattles so I would throw these in the dirtier water:

i wonder if the bass is able to see the colors or if they can tell the difference.

for example Dogs, cats, mice, rats and rabbits have very poor color vision.
In fact, they see mostly greys and some blues and yellows.
