February 15, 1997 Garland Police Department suffered a tragic loss. Police Officer Michael David "Mad Dog" Moore was killed in the line of duty while apprehending a bank robbery suspect. The Garland Police Department couldn't think of a better way to commemorate Michael Moore than the creation of an annual bass tournament.

For the past several years the Garland Police Department Police Department has put on this annual bass tournament to pay tribute to Michael Moore, and every year they choose a different charity recipient to give the proceeds too. Last year they raised over $20,000, and this year their goal is $30,000.

During last weeks Dallas Boat show, raffle tickets where sold for a chance to win an autographed Kevin Fowler guitar. Jeff Gilbert purchased several tickets and learned the story behind the "Mad Dog" Moore tournament. The guys at Fun N Sun are very excited about what the Garland Police officers are doing to commemorate one of their own, and look forward to being a sponsor for the upcoming "Mad Dog" Moore Tournament on Lake Fork.
