Just got the unit and relized the motor is in the way of the beam on the left side. I was wondering if I could make a bracket to extend out just a little further out then the motor?? Or would I get to much turbulence interference ?? Thanks and advance.

You don't want the SI pulses seeing the water the engine as affected.
You want the pulses forward of the engine.
The proper installation is two SI transducers, one on each tank.
That is why Humminbird has parts to accommodate most boats.
The connection for the two transducers is the AS SILR Y cable.

The right side SI transducer will give you 2D sonar, temp and right side SI. The left side transducer will give you left side SI.

The DI view will be the most affected since that is a blend of the left and right SI data.

Another option is a setback plate, and bottom cover with the transducer mounted in the center. There, the beam clears everything.

I had a humminbird si one transducer on the back of one tube, I think starboard side. It worked great. Never any issue. It was a 21' Castaway.
