Saturday, my friends BigDad and MarkC joined me for fishing expedition on Lake Lewisville. The total for our ages is 180 years and you would think the fish would just jump in the boat. Well that did not happen. We did manage 26 fish dead sticking in 45-56 feet of water. It was a pleasure to be out with the low wind and comfortable temperatures. The water was a cool 49 degrees at the surface and who knows what it was down on the bottom. The venerable slab was by far the best bait and I discovered that you could feel the bite with the heaver slab. The fish were hitting the slab from the bottom and the line would just go slack. It was easier to detect with the 1 to 1 1/2 ounce slab.
There were not many fishermen out and they all seemed to be catching fish at about the same rate as we were. A couple of guys in a red bass boat near us were catching one after another for a while. I am sure they were members of the TFF, but I could not identify them.
We caught a couple of small blue cats and BigDad landed about three small hybrids and the rest were whites of various sizes.

MarkC did not want me to take his picture, but Bigdad with a small hybrid and myself with a small white are pictured below. All three of us agreed that dead sticking in cold water could be our weakest link.

Where have you been my friend?

I forgot to mention one fact from Saturday. We had at least 100 hits, maybe more. Just could not hook up.

i thought that was you in the Polar. We were in the white Procraft bass boat fishing mostly to the south of you by a couple hundred yards. We did about the same as you guys did.

I fished Lake Fork on Friday and then fished LL on Sunday. Fishing Fork was a mistake because it made LL rather depressing. I caught a lot of fish on LL on Sunday but they were mostly small. I caught a few keeper size but released them all. I like LL very much and want the fishing to return to is best days. Right now it is not that great.

It has not been that great for almost 2 years in my opinion. Pastor John, could you give a comprehensive report on you lake Fork trip?

Stop by and say hello nogeese!

Don, I went to Fork with Gene, David and Todd. We had a guide, Gary Paris. Fishing was slow that day and most of our fish were caught by 11am. We used three inch pearl flukes with flies tied above. We caught less than 20 sandies but they were big, all over 2 pounds. We also caught some big crappie and a few catfish. I would really like to go back and do that again.
