The wife and I on planning our vacation in June going to Arkansas, we are planning on at least 2 guided striper trips either on Lake Ouachita or Beaver Lake. Looking for a good guide and lake preference? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Send VIP a pm. His name is Austin. He has fished Beaver with a guide and may be able to help.

I saw a post on the Beaver forum where some guys were getting personal best at this time. High 30s and low 40s. Man I would like to get some of that. Beaver is only about an 1.5 hour drive from me. I need to get up there and try it. But I know it will be a learning curve and I think a person can expect low numbers but big fish. That and being a bit lazy has kept me from it. Getting a guide would probably be the best option. At least for a first trip.

The thing I have noticed is the Arkies seem to be real closed mouthed on their striper fishing. There is very little info out there for someone that would like to go and do it yourself fish. That and the lack of live bait availability on these lakes means most folks take their own. So even with a good tank your shad are going to be hurting by the 2nd or 3rd day.

There are a few decent youtube videos showing guys slow troll live bait on Beaver. That is what I would like to do on either Beaver or Ouachita. Take a tank of bait and when they petered out put on a couple big umbrella rigs and see what happens.

IMO, nothing compares to Lake Ouachita except perhaps Lake Hamilton for big stripers.

The chances to catch the fish of a lifetime are always very good at Ouachita.

Shown are 43 pound striper and 32 pound striper...not many places where you can do that.
