Received a phone call this afternoon from Joseph Verburgt of Canyon Lake Texas. He stated that he and a friend of his were fishing for White Bass on the Nueces River. Joseph stated he caught a possible Nueces River White Bass Record. He arrived at my weigh station and the fish was weighed. The certified weight of the fish was 2.30 Lbs. The current White Bass Record is 2.03 Lbs and was 16 inches in length. Joseph's fish was 18.25" in length with an 12 inch girth. The fish was caught using live minnows. Paper work will be sent to Parks and Wildlife later this week. Congratulations Joseph on your pending record. Nice Fish.

I heard at the boat ramp by Dunlap yesterday that a possible record Striper Bass was caught on Canyon Lake last weekend. Have you heard anything about it?

There was a big Striper Caught Saturday. It was about 40" in length and weighed just under 30 Lbs. The Record Striper on Canyon Lake is 38.12 Lbs. and was 41.50" in Length. It was caught back in 1997. Fish was weighed on the water and released.

I heard about the same! It almost made the top 50 list! Anyway that lake does hold some big fish.
