 Fuel guage...Please help

Went out yesterday, fuel gauge said I had 1/2 a tank. I thought something was strange because one tank read empty and one said it was half full. Ran around the lake a little and realized it wasn't moving. Sure enough I ran out of gas, gauge still read half of a tank. Its a 2011 Skeeter ZX225. Does anyone know how these fuel gauges work? Is it stuck, dirty? Thanks

The sending unit is usually the problem. Check out YouTube for diagnostic tests. Mine had a similar problem and was a simple fix.

Check the wires for bad connections might just be a bad ground .

Fuel tank sender, gage or wiring. Process of elimination.
