I am about to upgrade to a better sit-on-top fishing kayak and have my sights set on the Bass Pro Ascend FS12T. I am big on reviews when I spend this much money and a lot of reviews say it leaks from many places. Pros and Cons of the yak overall? Worth the money and the time/effort to fix any leaks if in fact it does leak?

Check out youtube as there are fixes for the FS12T. Other than sealing the hatches and modifying the seat it has a strong following if that means anything.

It does, thank you. I have watched too many videos, that is why I am torn between the FS12T and finding another. The fixes seem easy enough but I am also worried about the eight capacity. I weigh 250 and the capacity is 350. Lol, doesn't leave me a lot of wiggle room for accessories.

If your budget will allow, you might look at the Wilderness Systems Commander 140 which has a weight capacity of 475# and it's got tons of room for gear and is incredibly stabile and easy to stand up in even for big guys. The kayak itself weights around 69#, has a comfortable seat and the high seat position "captains perch!"
I'm biased as I have one and love the boat. I would take it anywhere except into the surf for obvious reasons.

I just bought one last week. Sealed the scupper holes and round dry box before I ever took it out. I enjoy it. Granted its my first kayak, but so far I am extremely happy with it. I'll find the link of a little video I posted the other day.

I have had mine about 4 months now and have had it out only a handful of time due to school and work. This is also my first kayak so I have nothing to truly compare it to. With that being said this is my take on it so far.

The Good:

I didn't seal any scupper or the middle hatch and I have had no problems with mine. I did read some reviews that the scupper holes were leaking due to the mold not lining up but I think they have fixed this issue at least I never had a problem on mine.
The seat is great and I have had no problems with the seat. The seat makes longer days and fishing extremely comfortable. I have never had any problems turning around and reaching things in the storage area behind the seat and everything seems within arms reach.
I am 6'2" and weigh about 225 and I have had no problem with it at all. I do not have any bulky or heavy accessories on mine. It's usually just me, 3-4 rods, my crate and the odds and ends like a net and fish finder.
I have also never had a problem with stability and have never felt like I was going to flip even when I put it in the ship channel down on the coast.

The Bad:

The stability is great but the added width does not help in the speed department. It is relatively slow compared to some of the other kayaks I've fished around. This also could be due to my inexperience but I have read that its not winning any races.
Depending on where you are using it The front is not designed to take large waves. I have never had the problem on the lake going through boat wakes or chop but on the coast it was a factor. If the waves were big enough on the coast they did break over the front of the kayak.
It does hold some water at the bottom just because of how the scupper holes are placed. There are no scuppers directly under the seat so small amounts of water does tend to gather there. The seat is raised and I have never had the seat of my pants get wet but water does pool in some areas.

That's the main points I can think of off the top of my head. Overall I have had a good experience in it and for the price I found it hard to beat.

My buddy RobMoe has the FS12T and he has had zero problems with it and has stood in it as well.... wish I could stand in mine. I have considered out riggers but I don't know might just get in the way.
