Happy Valentine's day, all! I got to spend about 5 hours of my day on Cedar Creek today. I did a lot of running around, checking water temps in different areas, and checking to see what some of my shallow holes look like with the lake 5 feet low. Water temps varied from 51 degrees this morning to 55 degrees in places this afternoon. I figured it was still a couple of weeks early for any shallow action on the part of the lake where I was. The places where I caught jig and bobber fish last spring are all high and dry, anyway. We sure need some water. But I did catch some fish. It was a pretty tough bite for me, but when I did get bit, it was worth the wait. I ended up catching 10 keepers. All of them were really nice fish. The best fish didn't quite weigh 2 pounds, but they were all over 13 inches. That's a good sign. This is the size fish I caught so many of at Cedar Creek last spring. I'm definitely looking forward to the next couple of months, even though I may not be able to duplicate last year's jig and bobber bite, unless the lake catches some real water in the next few weeks. Today's fish were caught on or near the bottom, in 14 to 16 feet of water. I caught them on my homemade plastic shad, on a 1/8 oz jig head. Most were caught on my new electric chicken color, but I did catch a couple on a dark gray shad bait. I kept 6 fish and released the others. No need to measure any of today's fish.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
