Does anyone know if this kayak is worth the money? They are selling them dirt cheap right now, but is that because its a bad deal? I am looking to get into kayak fishing, but I am a bit low on funds and this seemed like the solution. Does anyone have one of these, or is anyone able to tell me if this is a good kayak for a beginner or not?

There are good reviews for it on the Sports Acadamy website

I have basically that same yak with a different brand name. It will get you on the water but they don't track well, and aren't comfortable for long periods of time. Save a few more bucks and find you a better used yak. There's a thread on here that will help you with that.

I don't think you can go wrong for a starter yak. Find out if you really have a passion for it before you dump a bunch of money into it. Plus, the resale seems to be pretty good on low end yaks. I bought a Pelican Icon to get me started and have no regrets. I'll upgrade soon but I needed to be sure before I totally committed and I recommend the same.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

It is what it is, and that is something to get you off the bank and on the water.
It's a good way to find out if kayaking is for you. That said, don't judge all kayaks by one that is not expensive. It's all about, you get what you pay for as with most anything these days.
With that in mind, you should find out pretty quick that kayaking is a great way to get out and relax, and have fun.

Just one more cast!

Jimbo, I can see what you mean. I have been a canoeing guide in Canada for the past two summers. I loved it, and it is the most fun I have ever had. Maybe I am just trying to grab a bit of that getting into kayak fishing. I think I will save up my money for a while and wait for a good offer to come up on the classifieds or on Cragslist. Everyone feel free to PM me if you come across something.

If your yak isn't tracking straight, consider making a DIY rudder. My little Mini-X is a pleasure to fish out of with the rudder. I used scrap plastic and stuff I had around my shop to fabricate the rudder. I've made rudders for a bunch of yaks for my clients. Total time for building this one was about 30 minutes and cost was nil.

My seat is a regular bass boat seat.

That's a good idea. I could easily buy a smaller kayak and install my own ruder and pole holders, etc for little to no cost.
