Years ago when lake level was low like right now we did very good trolling the frio for whites. Just wondering if anyone has tried it recently. How is depth of channel and is anyone limiting? We always troll where san miguel splits off to the right.

I've noticed over the years that the folks who fish the Frio keep a tight lid on any reports from there. You show up and the parking lot is full of trailers and when you get on the water everyone is catching fish. Another sign is the little bait store on 99 just off I37 is sold out of minnows.
We always trolled that same area but I don't think I've ever fished it with the lake as low as it is.
If you can get a boat into the water at 99 I don't see why you would have a problem finding fish, and in fact it seems it would be easier with the water down.
I'm going to give it a try soon and report when I do.

Just one more cast!

I don't believe the 99 ramp is operational for most boats.

If that's the case getting into the river may be next to impossible as it would be like crossing a mine field with all the stumps.

I ran the river in my mud boat to the end on valentines day with my wife to photograph gators and see what it looks like. The end is before the San Miguel.
I'd say maybe it goes up two miles at best.
There were people all along the back catching white bass.

Are you saying that, that is the Frio river and it's dry? Good lord, the insanity.

Not caused by that, lack of rain is the problem.

Cool pic, did you take anymore? Would be interested to see what other areas look like with it that low.
