Motor has been running fine. Took it in to get a new water pump and fuel filter and now the motor shuts down at 4500 RPM'S. Runs fine at low speeds but as soon as I hit 4500 it shuts down. Any ideas.

Check your fuel delivery hose to motor. Make sure it is not deteriorating internally causing a restriction.

Which 225 merc? Carb, EFI or DFI and year. On some of the EFI`s the TPS arm passes right over the fuel filter.

Look at everything behind the fuel filter good for interference with throttle linkage. Check for linkage going full throttle.
