I have a nitro 591 (18.10ft) boat. It has a merc opti maw with a 150. It is a dog out of the hole it usually takes about 200-300 yards to get on pad. It has a tempest 24p prop looking for suggestions on what to do. Like I said with full gas and livewells with a co angler it takes forever to break over. Help please!!!!!

if it'll run 5800 with a straight opti that prop is fine in pitch.

pull one or two of the pvs plugs and see if that helps it vent and
take off better.

one more question.. when you get the gas what do the rpms go to?
i call it "flash rpm" the motor needs to go up to around 2800-3200 rpms
on the hole shot.

Nitro`s have had this problem for some time. It normally comes back to filling the livewells 1/2 full will help about as much as anything.

If you have a jackplate, lower it. If not, I would seriously consider either a 4 blade prop or dropping the pitch to a 22. Years ago I had a Ranger 373V BM Classic with a 150 Evinrude and a 24P Prop. I lost a blade due to a bad casting and Evinrude gave me a new prop. When we were discussing the prop I told them it was a Pig out of the hole when tournament loaded. They asked the local dealer to let me try a 22. It made all the difference in the world. Lost no top end and my hole shot went from Pig to awesome.

wow, I guess I'm happier than I though with my SeaArk. My 1872 with 90 etec, fairly loaded is on plane in about 3 seconds@4000 RPM. Granted, I'm not pushing the weight that the fiberglass guys have,

At this point I would call Steve and get a recommendation from him. Throwing parts at it to get to a certain RPM is just asking the problem. He can tell if you are propped right and go from there. JMHO

Marcus @ Power Tech will also give you some good information. Now, if you are just in the mood to collect props until you get one that works, that's another matter.

I don't think you want to twist that motor much harder if it's even possible I would think it'd have a Rev limiter and if so 5800 ought to be close to it. Maybe drop a pitch with a 4 blade. But if you'd like to make life easier on yourself Steve offers a new service that sounds like it'd be worth the drive and the money to get this fixed right the 1st time and be done with the headache IMO.
