Why do rats like transducer cables more than the other wires in my boat? Those black cables must be have some sort of cheese scent injected in the plastic because that’s the only cables the rats on my lake like to eat!

Can I solder the wires back to another plug?

Where can I get another plug or an extension transducer cable to splice into? The rats ate the plug too!

This is what I have:

"Hummingbird 798ci HD Side Imaging" Transducer: XNT 9 SI 180 T
http://www.humminbird.com/Products/798ci-HD-SI-Combo/

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Without a TDR scope you can't solder or repair splice a transducer cable without changing the characteristic impedance.....replace with all new.

Might put apple bitters on the new one though they might eat that too.

I took a cat fishing to Sam rayburn once, somehow a stray cat got in my storage unit and decide under the passenger console was home, didn't notice and he didn't get out either, he rode all the way from dallas to jasper.

Be careful if moisture gets in and shorts between wire it can damage the internals of the unit. Shouldn't be a problem at the connector but you don't want to damage the unit.

I read a neat trick on keeping rodents out of boat take rat/Mouse poison and put a few pieces in small aluminum foil and hide in areas where they travel they will be small enough they will carry back to the nest and will not only remove them but others may consume too. Like the size of an acorn. they think they got a nut and instead deliver the poison to the nest.

Just be careful if you have children or pets that may be interested in the aluminum foil poison nuts too.

My first job out of college was with a company that installed plastic pneumatic tubing in buildings to control the HVAC units. Had a problem at Ft Sill due to squirrels eating holes in the tubing. Long story short, we learned the installation techs had fried chicken for lunch everyday, got it on the tubing and the squirrels loved it! A $100,000 mistake. Replaced all the cable in the entire building with copper!

I had a mouse in my boat last year used rat posin, got the mouse, but could not find it, stunk for about a month. Then I read on the internet to use a few Downy Static Clings (the kind you throw in the dryer) spread them around in the bilge area. Mice do not like them and will leave the area. Now I don't know if it is true or not but I used it and have not seen a mouse since. Also boat smells much better .

I have my boat covered but around the motor is just enough space for cats and what have you to enter and [censored] all over everything and make it their home. I was told to go to a feed store and pick up a bottle of coyote urine ($5) as cats and mice are a coyote's delight. Took an old T-shirt and wrapped it around a 1x2x15", put a little [censored] on it and laid it right in front of the motor. Now, no cats, no mice, no nothing. Been doing this for three years now. Just add a little [censored] to the T-shirt every four to six months. Should work for squirrels too. [censored] on them, I won!!!
