Bought a new unit, wasn't really paying attention to the transducer frequencies until I got it and realized it has a 50/200 transducer and not a 83/200, is there any difference ? Will lowrance let me switch it to a 83/200 transducer or is it okay to keep and just run it on 200khz all the time?

If you run it on 200 all the time, it will work fine.

If I decide to buy a 83/200 transducer will it work with the unit or is that certain lowrance unit only compatible with a 50/200 transducer? And will it fit my transducer saver? Cause it bigger and wider than the normal 83/200 transducer?

Ranger, you can use either transducer. The 50/200 was designed for deeper water and has a more narrow cone when using the 50 side. But here's the thing, I have the 83/200 and Leave mine at 200 all the time because the picture is more clear ( less screen clutter ). If it were me, I would keep what you have and spend your money on fishing gear.

It won't fit the transducer saver on my trolling motor, so I was just gonna swap out transducers take the 50/200 put it on the console graph and move the 83/200 transducer to up front and was worried that the unit was only compatible with the 50/200 transducer it came with. Good to know that either 83/200 or 50/200 transducer will work for the unit , thanks for the replies thumb
