I have an opportunity to fish this lake next Sunday and Monday. And the weather looks promising. But I've never been there. So I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share some tips like launch points and general areas to fish. Thanks.

There are only two places to launch a kayak: Oak Thicket and Park Prairie. I've only launched my kayak from Oak Thicket, but haven't been on that lake in 6 years or so. Always had luck throwing a shakeyhead and senko along the grass edges. I know anglers have had success with Black/Blue jigs in the coves full of sticks. I fished there Super Bowl Sunday 2007 and missed the biggest bass of my life ripping a rat-l-trap through the sticks near the boat ramp.

I fished out of my boat there Tuesday the 10th and the catching was mavelous! At sunrise I headed to the riprap near the intake fishing a brush hog T rigged and went 5 fish in a row nearing a #25 bag. The wind picked up and the bite went south so I moved to the wall using a C rigged fluke and got 2 more smaller fish. Then headed for the Buzzard point but got blown off with nada. Fished a quiet water cove near there and picked up 3 more with the T rig. Hit the trees next because the sun was out and it was on again. Nuemie has the right idea but most any weighted soft plastic was drawing strikes. If I were to fish that lake on the days you mentioned in a kayak, I'd launch at park prarie and hit any standing timber you can see and there's a lot. Good luck, it should be good catching

Fayette has a ton of "off shore" structure and most of it can be found by using your GPS with a map chip or by picking up a hotspot map before you head out. Most of them are community holes, but they got that way for a reason and can produce excellent results. Follow the shore line a few coves south of park prairie and there is a little cove that has a pond dam that runs the length of the entrance. Its got rock and grass all over it and can be non stop for a trig or crank bait bite this time of year. Having a few locations like that have always helped me get away from the bank beaters and on most trips catch bigger fish.

The Hot Spot map map for Fayette is awesome. If you can find it it's worth picking up.
