Launched on lake lewisville yesterday, first time fishing anything other than my home lake (ray rob). It was neat to try some new water.

But now about the fish: I found a creek 5ft deep, water was 58 degrees. When i pulled into the creek shad and minnows were jumping out of the water EVERYWHERE. all around me there were thousands of bait fish schooling and jumping. Fished it for two hours and didnt get a single hit. Any thoughts and opinions on this??? Also, i fished the marina, caught 1 fish, the only fish. Atleast now i can say ive caught a crappie on two lakes now!

How were you fishing those baitfish? I was there on LL Tuesday and followed the chad to the promise land trick was that I fished just a few feet under a float or dead sticked my jig. Water was cold, but the bite was on!

you folks should hit that spot in the very late part of the day or AT NIGHT
I bet its a flat out stupid right after dark with biting crappie thumb
and yes a fixed float about 24 inches above a jig should do it
try a natural looking color and or maybe a something with white on the belly
am super early before the sun gets up is option 3 breakdance
and in the bright sunshine middle of the day
.....take a nap and wait till it gets dark roflmao

This was last night, not last weekend, an extra 3 days of 75degree+ temps brought the water up quite a bit from the weekend. Thanks Ketchn, ill give it a shot again soon if the weather holds

I'm with Ketchn on this one. Try a bobber about 2 feet deep. The color for me has been black/chartreuse. I've only been able to fish the last 15-20 min before dark and it's just like someone flipped the switch and turned them off. Black/chartreuse has been doing well so I haven't had time to try any other color. Maybe when it gets dark I should go to something with white in it...

There were a few at the Eagle Point Marina last night before dark. No big un's but better than the 6" fish that were there before.

They liked the Ice Shad(I think that is the name) from Thermocline.

Does anyone know if the water is high enough for the fish to run on any creeks? I am undecided on which creeks I want to hit in the yak this spring.
