This is probably the start of many questions as I got my 999ci unit today. I registered it and downloaded the Humminbird PC program. Tried to open it and immediately was informed by a little box that the MSVCR71.dll was missing and program could not run. So I closed the box and another box pops up and says the same thing, I close that box and give it a few seconds and then the program starts up. So since the program runs I guess I will probably have to live with that stupid warning every time I open the program. Has anyone else had this problem. After quickly reading how to replace that dll, found that it is really quiet involved so I hate to go that route. Appreciate any comments, thanks.

Try downloading the file on a different browser. Let me know if that fixes it. Will need to redownload Humminbird pc.

Which browser do you use?

I tried that, removed the program, re-downloaded thru IE, and still the same thing as when I downloaded it thru Firefox. Still two warning boxes saying the same thing, then program starts up.

Okay I got the dll and put it in the system also tried to put it in the program itself. Removed program and reinstalled again. Still the same thing, so I will just live with the error boxes as after the boxes the program does start up. It is not much of delay to get past the boxes to the program.

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/dll-error-troubleshooting.htm

try this might not work but its the best thing i could find.

Windows operating systems suck.

If that doesnt work type the error code you got into google and it should list ways of fixing it.

The problem is not with Humminbird PC but with your computer and how it downloaded the file.

Don't know what operating system you are running, but I assume some version of Windows. I downloaded HBPC using Google Chrome and it runs fine on Win 7 Home Premium. You might try right clicking the program icon, click Properties, click on Compatibility tab, then select which operating system you want the program to be compatible with. Just a thought.

Thanks anyway Bandit 53 , I tried re-loading thru I.E. vs Firefox and this time I said run it instead of saving it, still the same thing, I am using windows 7 Home Premium also. I put that missing dll into the windows system and it still does the same thing. Thanks again for trying.

Just a thought as I had a couple of programs displaying the missing .dll file and by choosing the compatibility steps, the programs now run. Oh well!

BRT, just thought I would update you. I have a desktop running Win7 Home Premium which runs HBPC without issue. I just bought a new laptop running Win7 Pro. Same experience as you, I could not get HBPC to run on the laptop, getting same messages as you.

I copied msvcr71.dll from the root directory of C:\windows\SysWOW64 and pasted it into the same place on my laptop and it appears to have solved the problem. If you don't have access to a copy of msvcr71.dll, give me your email and I send you a copy.

Bandit, you rock. That worked. I had tried putting the .dll in windows32, did not know to put it into Wow area. Earlier today I was having probs with both Humpc and humviewer. I loaded both programs on my old win xp computer and both programs worked great. So I figured something is messed up on this laptop and I would just live with it. I had a copy of the .dll I had downloaded off the net, just had not deleted it yet. I did get the humviewer to start working without the .dll Now hum pc starts right up without the warning boxes. Once again , thanks a lot, I would of never figured it out.
