Fished it 8 times. Some epic crankbait sessions there. Major water level fluctuations and other incidents/issues, negatively affected the fishing and operators' presence. To my knowledge, nobody is operating a dependable lodge/pkg service there. Looks like Palmar might be the same location as the old Speed/Balderama place?

Upon further review...I don't think it's that location...

Were any of you lucky enough to have had Luis as your guide at Trophy Bass Lodge? I wonder where he is now.

Luis had worked around Weatherford with a mutual friend who flew to Mexico but can't remember name to save my soul-wish I could contact back in the day-had invested in Trophy Bass Lodge--was good adventure until local cartels acted up

My last trip to Trophy Lodge Huites was 5-6 years ago and we averaged 125 each per day, with the biggest 9.8#. Killed them on Scroungers. We has a group of 13 and I think we were the last group to go before the US partners walked away. My Son and I fished with Luis and he told us about the guy who got shot in his boat 2 weeks before. His pancho still had blood on it. I don't believe there were any issues at Huites prior to that. I will say I was alway nervous going up "the donkey trail" from Choix at night. I'd love to go back.

Got it. Thanks. I'd love to go back. Thinking back on the lodge, it looks like the one you see on the bluff in front of you as you come out of the river towards the dam.
