This past christmas I got a feelfree lure 10 fishing kayak. I have rigged it to the best of my abilities with a fish finder etc. and have been out three times without catching anything. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas where I could go to land my first fish out of a kayak... I tried texoma a couple weekends ago and local ponds more recently.. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

I live in Allen also. I might be able to help you out.

check out the small lakes up in the Sherman/Denison area. perfect for yaks and all hold decent fish. of course you always have southlake in Farmersville.
lots of options up in this area (im in Melissa). I'll be at fork this weekend. welcome to join there too.

What species are you targeting? Lots of guys on here that will be happy for you to tag along. It's a big change going from the bank or a power boat to a kayak but stay with it and you'll get better. This time of year is tough to catch fish but it's about to get so so good.

Thanks for all the info... I was hoping to catch some largemouths but I would be fine with anything!

I would suggest South lake in Farmersville. I have seen a few good reports from there lately.

I live in Allen as well and have only taken my kayak out once. I do plan on hitting Lavon soon but not sure when. I usually go with fellow TFF's RobMoe and Fisherman13. All 3 of us are new to kayaking but we love it so far. You're welcome to join us at any time. PM me if you want more information.

I want to hit Lavon but I'm just waiting on a weekend when other TFF'rs will partake. I don't want to venture out there alone yet. My favorite little get away is Town Lake in Prosper. Its usually tough but pays off if your patient. Takes me 20 minutes of I shoot straight down Custer from 121

I'm gonna stay close to home Saturday morning and go to Southlake if anyone wants to join me. I'm planning on getting there around 8am

You should send a PM to FISHALL50. He has a Pedal kayak and is consistently winning Kayak Wars. I've fished with him some in the past and he flat knows where they are biting.

If he won't answer, I also live in Allen. Don't fish a Kayak, as I don't have room in my Garage for one so I use an Inflatable. I'm either going to Fork or Texoma Saturday. Fishing is tough for small boats right now. Fish are deep and hard to hold position in the wind. Also have the Joy of the 250 HP Jerk who can send a 50 deg water wake over you if you get near them.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

I registered for a spot on Squaw Creek this Saturday. Never fished that before, so going to give it a shot. Otherwise, I probably would be headed back to Welsh one more time before this front comes in!
