Are there any good areas for bank fishing on the Amistad? My grandparents live there and we'll be there for the Christmas weekend but i dont have a boat to get around in. Any good locations you'll can recommend?

Governor's Landing and Diablo East both have pretty good bank fishing.
Also up Rt. 277 under the bridge

Hey Dg721, Rapala is right about those areas although Governers landing gets hit pretty hard. I would suggest for this time of year the best place would be Air Force Marina, park at the top and walk the banks on the right side leading up to the main lake. There are alot of big fish in that area. Diablo East would be my second choice, just make sure you don't get inside the marina and get a ticket from the park service. At the Air Force Marina it is ok to fish all of the coves on the right.

Is the general public able to launch from the Air Force Marina or do you have to be in the service?

I think you can rent a boat at the Marina at Diablo East. Not sure how much it costs per day, but it'd be worth it.

dg721- Check your PM's

Jay in Grapevine- To the best of my knowlege, you must be active duty or retired Military to use Crosswinds (Air Force) Marina.

Dobro, you do not have to be military to launch your boat at the Air Force Marina or to buy gas on the water, however you do have to be active or retired to rent boats or go into the little store at the top of the ramp. I think Jay was talking about renting boats from Diablo East not the Air Force Marina, which is a good idea and could make for a great trip.
