While fishing the Blanco County Hill Country I decided to hit the Blanco State Park to see if any Sunfish were active. It was a warm day with plenty of blue sky.(Last warm spell). I baited a night crawler and stared to fish the tree overhangs along the Blanco River bank. After a few minutes I got a hit and it was a Rainbow Trout. I threw out a little further along some rock beds and got another trout. I ended up with a limit of Rainbow Trout caught all on worms. One of the fish was 10 inches and super fat. I took it to the scale and it weighed .51 Lbs which was good enough for the pending Blanco State Park Rainbow Trout Record. Paper work is on it's way to Texas Parks&Wildlife. When I cleaned the fish it was loaded with lots of Berkley Trout Power Bait along with nine kernels of corn. As full as that fish was it still wanted a night crawler. I also was able to catch a couple of small bass and a few Bluegill. A great surprise catch and a very unexpected water body record all caught on the "Bait of Champions". "WORMS". It just don't get any better! fish

Thanks Chris and Bob for the replies! cheers Bob: Yes Sir they are still biting. hooked The bite should stay good down here into the first week of March. hmmm Stockings will continue in some of the San Antonio ponds through February. dance2 Chris: There is one more stocking at the Blanco Park this year. clap I think it is February 5th which falls on a Thursday. Maybe we can cross paths! fish

Side Note: Never thought of getting a Rainbow Trout Record especially in Texas! noidea Judging how they stock the Blanco River the fish have a lot of area to roam. hmmm Lot's of em survive longer and are pretty good bait stealers. eeks I am sure that there have been other very FAT trout caught with a the possibility of plenty more being caught in the future. thumb

Chuck -- We are planning a family outing that day to BSP so I will be looking for you !

Yeah, these guys are very good at stealing bait. Most of the ones we caught had corn or PowerBait in
them. And some of it was our corn ! smile
