that is the question roflmao
Tuesday we found some 27 foot deep

Wednesday i found some 27 inches deep

interesting to say the least and i for one refuse to let them crappie take over the world bang
its my thought that we should put it on them before there is one in every mud puddle i tell ya lizard
now on the serious side . the fish yesterday in the creek i hit from time to time have actually been over run by the sand bass .

big and small they are up in there thicker every visit . the crappie have become very lethargic in that spot and to say you have to be on your game is understatement !
if the bait moved very much at all you would not get a crappie bite . they wanted it almost dead still under the float .thanks to a lack of wind i was able to fine tune my presentation after 8 sandbass and get back on the crappie trail . the slightest of a twitch and sitting rather still produced crappie strikes . i am sure my spanking the sandbass along that stretch with the other fella that had 7 in his ice chest helped the scenario well . i do know this , he wanted to ketch crappie as well and i gave him one of my floats and one of my baits and we fine tuned him into a bunch of crappie takes as well thumb
for sure the bait color and jig head made a big difference as well
silver flash was what they wanted hands down on a gold head

and as you may notice there is my trusty "FIXED" pencil float clap

managed about 20 or 25 fish total not to many keeper fish though . but for a little over an hour it was fun and sure love setting the hook long range float ketchn . the creek was little cloudy but not terribly and the male sand bass are for sure on the march or maybe that's February ? woot

will travel some soon and try broader horizons and yes they are biting well somewhere it seems to me cheers
Thanks once again to Thermocline for them there silver flash small fry thumb
and for sure another lucky angler got to see just how much they made a difference
hope yawl find them on your travels and thanks for the reads
oh yeah ....it is what it is
was what it was ...and
for sure..

Great Information Ketchn!!! I noticed the same thing in the Yegua. When the white bass moved in the crappie seemed to become lethargic, almost scared. They seemed to hold much tighter to the structure as well. I'll note that presentation and color pattern down and give it a try. I bought some simple gold jig heads already. I'm not sure they will work as good as the type you are using though.

Thanks for sharing

Nice to see that even you the mighty Ketchn have to put up with those pesky sand bass. You drop one of those good looking crappie jigs in PK and you will immediately pull up a sand bass. There's not a crappie alive aggressive enough to get that jig before a sandy will have it.

That's something else catching them in 27" of water, thought that was a month and a half ahead.

I'll be sticking to my deep pattern of 27-35 FOW.

Nice report and catch, looks like a fun time!

I'm always in a good mood when I'm fishing.

I've been nailing them in anywhere from 2 to 6 ft of water. Come see me at my local creek if you can. Me and my buddy both limited out from 7 to 12:30 am. Just having a hard time getting the pics on here.
