Cracked blue crab and cut fresh mullet are working pretty good for bull reds and black drum right now. Live shrimp fished tight to the bridge pilings will get some good bites from sheepshead too.

I use 40# test mono leader with a 1 oz slip sinker and a 4/0 circle hook. Make the leader about 2 feet long.

Good luck!

Question....Last time there I noticed all the boaters fishing this bridge were anchored up about 25 to 30 yds out from it and casting under it.Why is that? Regulations??? Just wondered because around here in the area lakes ,everybody stops and fishes directly under the bridges...Is that illegal,or is there another reason for doing that?
Another question...Where can I buy some live shrimp in that area, when the Bright-Lite store there is always out of it when I'm there?

You can go under the bridge but the current can get wicked between the pilings. Sometimes it can make a whirlpool that can swamp a small boat.
As far as shrimp, there are several bait camps coming into Surfside on 332 before you cross the bridge. A long way from the pass though, unless you come through this way instead of Galveston.

I saw a guy wading out in the pass right next to the pilings about 50 to 60 yd. out. When he came in he had a 28'' trout on his stringer
