I use both stores for certain items. I usually know what I am going after when I walk in a particular store.
Though, I can't seem to get away from that Tackle Warehouse site. Way too convenient.

It's so funny....my father and I were having this exact conversation 2 days ago when he called me from academy. He had driven 25 miles to his nearest store to spend his chrismas gift cards and what do you know? 30 vacant pegs on the aisles. So in the end he settled for line and weights not wanting to feel it was a total wasted trip.lol. I'd rather pay a $1 more a bag by going to bps knowing that they are at least gonna have it. Hell, I live 2 minutes from an academy in Temple and it's pitiful. Maybe just maybe academy will step their game up when they see a loss in sales due to the new BPS near the outlets. I guarantee multiple locations are going to feel it. I know this is all a repeat of Info....but that's my 2 cents.

The new BPS in Round Rock will be their smallest store in the country. I would not have high expectations for their selection.

Its small but not the smallest. Its about the same size as the one in bossier city and that one has a pretty good fishing dept. Store size doesn't indicate how good the fishing dept will be. The worst I've been in was Las Vegas.

I stand corrected, it will be the third smallest of the "Outdoor World" locations.

+1

I would much rather support the local shops such as Fun N Sun, Brannan's, Tightlines, APT, Fisherman's Corner, Oak Ridge, Temple Tackle, etc. If I feel they are too high, then I'll go online to Texas Bass Tackle or TW. The local shops put their necks on the line to stock the baits that I want/need.

Gander Mountain isn't even in the conversation unless you need ice fishing gear and tackle. I wondered if the GM buyers have ever even seen a bass in real life.

I do my best not to go to either of those stores. I'm fortunate enough to live near APT and they have everything a bass fisherman would ever need.

Yep, it's got to the point where Wal-Mart has as much stuff as Academy, and they're even cheaper. I typically just go to BPS if I need something Wal-Mart doesn't have. BPS is closer to me anyway. Academy needs to build a store in Rockwall or Fate if they want the Royse City/Fate/Greenville/Rockwall/Quinlan customers.

Tackle warehouse. Got tired of driving to either Bass Pro or Academy only to find they were out or quit carrying what I need. TW order what I want on Monday and it's at my door by Thursday.
