Gonna upgrade all my rods. Looking for the best ones for around $200. Leaning towards Dobyns Champions or Falcon Cara. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

You will get lots of opinions but I would recommend trying before buying. There are several people on here that have offered to let folks try out the rods they rep for and that is how I ended up picking Dobyns. The Falcons are really good also but I just liked the feel of the Dobyns. You might like the Falcon better once you try them out for a while.

Hey Rkangler, you're not too far from Gilmer. Come down and you can try out some Falcones if you care to join me on Lake Gilmer, Fork, Martin or any other lakes down here in the Pineywoods.

I keep every Dobyns I bought sold most of my Falcons. The Falcons I keep we're the reaction series deep runner crank bait rods.

Put a couple of each in your hands. I love the blanks on the Falcon rods (Cara T7), but hate the way they feel with my reel on them. I couldn't get use to them. I prefer the Dobyns reel seat. Lots of good options in that price range.

Dobyns are fine, buddy just got a bunch of kistler klx, I'm thinking that is what I'm going to switch to. They feel sweet. I agree with the crucial also, I have a couple of there cranking sticks and would not trade them for anything.

I had all Dobyns for a couole years but switched over to Kistler KLX last year. I liked thr Dobyns, just like the KLX more and they are cheaper than the Champion Series.

I started on the Powells about 5-6 years ago. Performance has been flawless. Durability has been outstanding. For the money, I roll with Powell. Max 3D series is $189.99 Lot of good rods out there. Like any brand, you just have to give it a try and go from there. http://www.powellco.com/index.php?route=common/home

13 fishing envy, duckett macro magic (I don't like micro guides), Phenix (spelt that way) recon II or TFO Tactical series in my opinion are the 3 best rods for under $200 in fact I don't think any of them are over $160. Please dont jump me you Dobyns guys!

If you would like a custom built rod, Dave Settle's (owner/builder of Custom Angle Rods) shop is at Oak Ridge Marina on Lake Fork in Quitman, Tx. He builds one of, if not, the best rods you will ever lay your hands on. I would HIGHLY suggest that you go feel the bite and set the hook with one of his rods before buying.
I have yet to have a client on my boat not be amazed with the sensitivity, versatility, and performance of his rods! He's also a fantastic person!
