Hey y'all!
Merry Christmas! I'm making an unexpected trip to the Austin area tomorrow, and I'm planning to stay at least until Saturday. I'm going down to look at a yak trailer, and I decided I'd like to try to get some fishing in. I've got two basic ideas... 1) Go to one of the lakes near Austin and fish for LMB. 2) Go further down to San Antonio and yak on Braunig (I've always wanted to go down there, and I'd love to look for in-shore redfish). Any ideas on which of these ideas would be more practical this weekend? I don't know the area well, so any insights would be welcome! I just want to get out on the water while I'm down there and have time.
Sincerely,
JR

Seems it would be more practical to fish in Austin if that's where you're going to be. Never been to Braunig so can't help you there. Decker/Walter E Long is $10 but it's easy launch, good fishing. Fiesta Gardens/Festival Beach on Lady Bird Lake, easy ramp/parking, decent fishing to the east. Austin High School launch on LBL, more difficult to park and launch, but good fishing. Quinlan park on Lake Austin, lot fills up quick with powerboats, but it's good fishing. Austin launch areas

My therapist says she's happy I flyfish for the meditative qualities. Little does she know it's the cause of my PTSD.
