Fished the Blanco River yesterday morning after the trout stocking. The bite picked up about 40 minutes after the stocking took place. Limited out in about thirty minutes. Not that many people there. Parks&Wildlife stocked both sides of the river and there was no one on the second side that was stocked. Should be a mess of em there for the weekend. Fish were caught on Berkley Cheese colored bait. Met some really great people. Love fishing the Blanco River and the Blanco State Park! Getting a limit of Rainbow Trout on the Blanco River. It just don't get any better. fish

Great stuff!!! I'm surprised they were biting 40 minutes after being released.

Thanks "Gitter","Ketchn","ETexCrappie",and Jamie for the replies. cheers "Gitter" I usually fish the State park two to three times a year. eeks Great place to fish and relax. coolio Blanco also has some pretty good restaurants. food Jamie: I was kind of surprised also. I saw lots of fish as they were being put into the river. thumb The only thing I can think of is that they were trying to adapt to their new surroundings. Just my guess. noidea

There was some discussion on other posts about TPWD feeding them, before releasing them. If they had feed them right before releasing them they wouldn't bite right away and they would last a while longer in the ponds. But it wasn't clear when they feed them because there is a risk of feeding them to close to the time they are transported. I fished for them the first day they stocked in CS. Nobody caught any for the first couple of days. It seems the further into the stocking season we go the less they are feeding them.
