Planning a trip with my dad for late February/March. We usually always went to amistad but have heard that it has been real tough recently.
I live in the metroplex. He lives about an hour north of lubbock. Just looking for some ideas on where to spend 5-6 days fishing. No guide we will have our own rig.
Thanks for the ideas

2 for 1.
Stay at Powell Park on Sam Rayburn and go to Toledo Bend, about 30 mins.
Or stay at Fin and Feather on Toledo Bend and go to Sam Rayburn some.
Both lakes are in great shape in terms of water level, grass and fishing.
Both places above have great facilities whether RV or cabin/room.

If you guys would be interested in Lake Falcon; give me a shout. I book a nice place to stay there and hopefully the bite will be on in the spring.

Thanks for the tips. May look into the combo Rayburn Toledo bend trip. Anyone have any reports from amistad? We went there every year for spring break when I was in college. Be fun to go back if the water levels are good enough.
Keep the ideas coming and thanks again!

Well. My dad passed away when I was 17. If I were to take my dad fishing again, I'd want to go back to some of the places we fished together oh so many years ago. Don't know how well we'd do, but it would be cool. If my dad were still alive, I'm sure we fish together every few days. Lol And going back to an "old memory lane"'fishing spot wouldn't even be a thought. We'd want to be "on the fish".
I'd vote for you two to go someplace that is fishing well right now and also has some good places to go out for dinner afterwards.
You are a lucky guy. Don't waste to chance to fish with your old man. Ever. Someday you might not have the opportunity.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

Cripple Creek is open again. If you go to amistad, hit the devils. Main lake and secondaries

Thanks for the ideas If you want to get your rod bent every day, I would suggest Fayette County.

SMQ has the right idea. Where you go isn't nearly as important as who's going with you.
