Although I must issue a warning...when using these slabs you better hang on! I was drifting on Grapevine one time for catfish and the wind died down just about the time I settled over a school of sandies. I reeled in my cat lines dropped an ugly slab and fly down and reeled in a double. Once again...same results. My phone rang and I put down my rod in a bee-ready rod holder. Of course...it was my wife...she always calls right as the fish are starting to turn on. About that time the rod tip slams down and drag starts racing off. I put the phone and the fight is on. I get that big flathead close enough for me to see it and then it takes off again. It strips the reel and pops the 12# test. So the lesson is if you like your equipment, make sure you use a good stout rod holder if you set it down when you got an ole ugly tied on.

Made a run to Pk yesterday with Todd ,Tex and Leonard and caught the hound out of sandbass
and small stripers on ole ugly slabs and flies. Real fun day.
