I certainly don't workout like used to. For a five year period I lifted hard 6 days a week. I have cut way back, mostly for lack of time and having 2 children. But I still try to lift 2-3 times a week. The gym I workout has an area with a smoothie bar and wifi. This group of guys come in with their Golds Gym stuff, do a set of bench and then a few curls and call it quits. Then they all go up to the bar area and pullout their laptops and work for 2 hours. Is this a hipster thing? Since when did the gym become a place to socialize and work? I don't get it.

Since the gyms became the size of walmarts and put areas for that in them. They are getting their $40 worth. There are many gyms that are not like that

The best part is they come in with their protein drinks but look like their pre-workout was the #5 Plate from Taco Casa.

That's why you have to separate a "gym" from a "fitness club". Gyms are where real men are actually there to workout. Fitness clubs have too many dbags in Affliction shirts who go to socialize with other dbags!

Yeah, that's a bit weird.

The Y has a little area with a few tables and a couch. It's usually used by older people that are in the Silver Sneakers program. They drink coffee and talk between exercise classes. Sometimes younger kids sit there and wait while their parents finish working out. I've never seen people working there, besides staff members, very rarely.

I have not seen this but what I have noticed is the cell phones...

And the people who play music on their cell phones with no headphones....You know bcs everyone in the gym wants to hear your music.

Some of these cell phones have really loud speakers actually.

Tots annoying

Try Lifetime Fitness, that's more of a country club than a gym.
