I had the pleasure of taking Bryce (most respectful 9 yr old I've had the pleasure of fishing with) and his dad out for some Lake Austin fun. Bryce told me he wanted to learn how to throw some topwater baits because its fun watching the water explode. So I tied on a couple for him, showed him how I've had success with them and let him go to work. About his 3rd cast he got a 4lb surprise that tried to pull him in the lake a couple of times. Then Bryce whacked em on his new favorite bait, V&M Baby Swamp Hog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufDD08j_uZwLook closely on the left side of the screen and you can see the fish blow up on his bait. I thought his catch was gonna rip the rod out of his. I do have some openings during the holidays for a great Christmas present!!

Love seeing this! That young man will now hopefully prefer fishing and being outdoors to video games and other unproductive things the younger generations have steered towards. Congrats to him and to the guide and dad for getting him "hooked"!

That is so awesome. I bet that young man is hooked for life. To this day I will fish a top water when I probably shouldn't just cause it's so much fun.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.
